Why “byLadyBug”?

I’ve had many nicknames over my 27 years and plenty of them have stuck around, like, Midget, Mighty Mouse or JayBird; and just as many have fallen out of use like Missy, Sputnik or Lil J. LadyBug was one of the first nicknames I was ever given and has been my favorite among all the others. It was given to me by my Mommy and she, herself, rarely used it. I’d find it written on special cards she gave me or cutely decorated on an item of clothing (that she bought of course). She actually called me by a completely different, made-up nickname more than “ladybug” but I think that is what made it more special to me. No one else really knew about it other than my sisters or if I offered up this information.

My mom is by far the most encouraging and aggressively supportive person in my corner. She sees greater potential in me than I’ll ever give myself credit for, but her confidence in my talent makes it easier for me to believe. Hence, I have chosen byLadyBug as my pen name. Written specifically like that to read like a byline. My art, whether it’s a photo, a video or words written on a page, are stories being told. I may not be the author of these stories, but I’m proud to be the illustrator or the narrator.

I will use this site to convey each story I come across and I hope the audience enjoys everyone.

I graduated with a degree in Mass Communications and went straight into a sales position. After three years of searching and applying, I realized I needed to give myself my own outlet. Here you will see the way I view life via editorial writing, photography, and reviews. I hope that my opinion will make a connection with people from all walks of life.
